READ ME: What to do if you're banned from Chat-Solutions

Post by Legend »

Greetings everyone,

To help minimize the time that a genuine user is unable to access the network, I've prepared some instructions below for how to get unbanned if you are falsely marked as a source of spam (or open proxy).

Chat-Solutions is protected by several blacklists to keep the network clean from unwanted visitors. If you believe you were banned in error, please keep in mind that most people's IP addresses change from time to time. Likely the person who used your IP address previously was the cause of your blacklisted connection.

In order to get unbanned, first check to see which blacklist banned you. Your ban message should look something like this:

Reason: Open proxy found on your host, please visit www.njabl.org/cgi-bin/lookup.cgi?query=82.36.146.206. If you believe you were banned in error, please visit www.chat-solutions.org.

You will need to know two things in order to get unbanned:
- Your IP address
- Which blacklist banned you

If you don't know your IP address, go to http://www.whatismyip.com.

Lastly, follow the instructions below, depending on which blacklist you are affected by:

If the blacklist is ircbl.ahbl.org:
Visit http://ahbl.org/lookup/ to have your IP address removed.

Note: Chat-Solutions staff can add special exceptions for this type of blacklist. If you are banned under this blacklist, we can allow you to reconnect immediately if you provide us the full ban message you saw. This exception only applies to this blacklist. We expect that you will still go to the URL above to have your IP removed.

If the blacklist is dnsbl.dronebl.org:
Visit http://dronebl.org/lookup to have your IP address removed.

If the blacklist is tor.dnsbl.sectoor.de:
Visit http://www.sectoor.de/tor.php and click "Check My IP" for instructions about how to have your IP address removed.

If the blacklist is rbl.efnet.org:
Visit http://rbl.efnet.org and click "Check" for instructions about how to have your IP address removed.

If the blacklist is dnsbl.njabl.org:
Visit http://dnsbl.njabl.org/remove.html to have your IP address removed.

NOTE: Being removed from a blacklist can take up to 48 hours, but generally you should be able to reconnect to Chat-Solutions within 12 hours.

If you have tried the steps above and still have difficulties connecting, or if you have any questions or concerns, please post here.

Thanks!
